Ralph Knevett, (also spelt Knyvett, Knevet, Knivett, Kneuett and Nevett), was baptized at St. Margaret's, Hardwick, Norfolk, on February 19, 1602. He was a poet and tutor or chaplain to the family of Sir William Paston of Oxnead Hall, near Norwich, son of Katherine, his cousin. From 1652 to 1671, he was rector for the Parish of Lyng.
He studied at Cambridge between 1616 and 1618 and, about 1635, wrote a Supplement of the Faery Queene, originally by Sir Edmund Spenser.
